## Adding Sidecar to Channels

Adding the Sidecar Slack App to channels enables **Slack thread anchoring** — conversations about data assets are automatically linked in the Sidecar catalog.

<Note>
  Sidecar only supports anchoring for **public channels** to which the Sidecar App has been added.
</Note>

To add Sidecar to a channel:

1. Navigate to the channel in Slack.
2. Click the icon in the top-right that shows channel participants.
3. Click the **Integrations** tab.
4. Click **Add an App**, find the **Sidecar** app, and add it.

Repeat for all channels where you want Sidecar to listen.
