# Fivetran

> Connect your Fivetran account to Sidecar

## Requirements

A Fivetran account on a **Standard**, **Enterprise**, or **Business Critical** plan is required. Sidecar will need an API key from a user with read and write access to the Fivetran API.

## 1. Create a Fivetran API key

1. In the left-hand navigation bar in Fivetran, look for the username at the bottom.
2. Click the dropdown. You will see an **API Key** section. Click the API Key link.
3. Click **Generate new API Key**.
4. Copy the **API Key** and **API Secret** (not the base64 version) and save them in a safe place.

## 2. Connect Fivetran to Sidecar

1. In the Onboarding page (or Settings), navigate to the `Connect your Extract & Load tool` section.
2. Enter the `API Key` and `API Secret` from Step 1.
3. Click `Test` then `Save`.

## 3. Enable the Fivetran Platform connector

Enable the Fivetran Platform connector and the Quickstart Transformations for full metadata coverage.
