1. Create a Metabase API key

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right, then select Admin settings.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click on Settings, then Authentication.
  3. Scroll down to the API Keys section and click the Manage button.
  4. Click the Create API Key button.
  5. Create a new API Key:
    • Key name: Give it a descriptive name (e.g., Sidecar)
    • Select a Group: Select Administrator
  6. Copy the value displayed on the screen.
The API key will not be visible again after you leave the page. Save it somewhere safe.

2. Connect Metabase to Sidecar

  1. In the Integrations page, navigate to the Metabase integration.
  2. In the Metabase URL field, input your Metabase URL (e.g., https://your_account.metabaseapp.com).
  3. In the API Key field, input the key you copied in Step 1.
  4. Click Test then Save.
