Each agent has default settings for runs that do not use a job. Today, these defaults apply to requests sent by direct message to the Sidecar Slack app. Job settings are independent. Changing an agent default does not update existing jobs or active runs.

Open agent settings

  1. In Sidecar, select Agents.
  2. Open an agent.
  3. Click Settings.
Changes on this page save automatically and affect future runs.
Builder settings with repository scope, connected Snowflake tool, and run defaults

Agent settings combine resource scope with defaults for ad hoc runs.

Scope

The Scope section shows:
  • Repositories available from the connected source-control provider
  • Connected tools granted from the workspace MCP registry
  • Subscribed repositories for Custodian only
Use Give agents MCP access to manage connected tools.

Run defaults

Delivery

Delivery options depend on the agent’s resource requirements. They can include a pull request, branch, or text response.

Tool permissions

  • Autonomous runs gateable tools without approval unless you add an exception.
  • Supervised pauses gateable tools for Account Admin approval unless you add an exception.
Exceptions can include web tools and whole MCP servers. Core repository tools do not pause. These settings apply to Slack runs. A saved job uses its own delivery, MCP selection, and tool permissions.
